Kaki is native to Asia, from where it was gradually introduced to North America, Brazil, India, Israel, and Spain.
Production areas
Persimmon is a fruit with a long history rooted in Asia, where it has been cultivated for centuries. Over time it found in Spain, and especially in the Comunitat Valenciana, a privileged place to thrive thanks to its climate, fertile lands and knowledge passed down from generation to generation.
Today, behind every persimmon that reaches our table there is a great deal of human effort. Farmers, field technicians, pickers, packing houses and quality specialists look after every stage of the process so that the fruit keeps all its flavor, texture and freshness. It’s thousands of skilled hands that make each season a success.
Although Spanish production extends across different areas such as Seville, Cieza, La Vall d’Albaida, La Ribera del Xúquer or El Camp del Túria, it is in the Ribera del Xúquer where persimmon growing has reached a special significance, becoming a true symbol of the region and its agriculture.
